It's Time to Sign Up for Summer Camp
Troop 224 will return to the San Juan Mountains of southwestern Colorado in 2012. Our summer camp adventure will include a ride on the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad into the San Juan Mountains, where we will embark on a high country adventure.
For scouts and scouters alike, it's the kind of experience that will be remembered for a lifetime.
Planning has already begun for the trip and now it's time to find out who wants to join us. A registration form has been attached to this page.
We expect the cost of the trip to $750, including transportation to and from Colorado on a chartered bus and all meals, lodging, the train ride, and food while in the backcountry.
As always with Troop 224 activities, the cost should not be a barrier for any Scout. If you have concerns about the total cost or meeting the payment schedule, please contact Scoutmaster Mike McEahern for an alternate payment arrangement or scholarship request.
A required parent's meeting about camp will be scheduled for after the first of the year. Fundraising opportunities will be one topic of discussion.
In addition to the registration form, you can find attached a narrative from one of the the crews during the 2009 summer camp trip to Wind River Range, Wyoming. This will give a look at what a high adventure experience is like for Troop 224 scouts and scouters.
